IndianPenalCode-Rape-change-Sexual

After the much discussed Criminal Procedure Amendment Act, 2005 and 2008 the Government is now seeking to make a special change in the Penal Code. The graph of Rape and other sexual offences are showing mounting figures every day. Small and major sexual offences apart from rape are increasing. Now the Home Ministry is thinking of a Bill to deal with every type of sexual assault. The Bill will widen the term 'sexual assault' and replace the term 'rape' from the Indian Penal Code.
The impact of such a change in the code has to be discussed deeply. The time will only say whether the change will liberalise the present law or make it more stringent. Gender neutrality is also under discussion in sexual offences. In the present law it is clear that the male only is considered to commit the offence of rape. But these times are flooded with perverted sex incidents. However, the news is that the Home Ministry has sought the views of Law Ministry on the proposal of new change in the Indian Penal Code.
